IMPORTANT: Mentors must be residents of South Carolina Mentor Volunteer Role & Responsibilities: Future IT Professionals Mentorship is a virtual program designed to mentor high school seniors, college students and other young adults with aspirations in the IT field. All mentoring sessions are free and conducted via Zoom or telephone. Mentors are seasoned IT professionals and must complete background checks in order to serve as mentors. We also have a counselor on staff to counsel and advise mentees on non-IT related needs. This mentorship program is only offered to residents of South Carolina. To begin the mentorship assessment process, interested mentees are required to complete our mentorship form. Mentors provide advice and guidance to young adults with aspirations of becoming IT professionals. Mentors are active listeners and compassionate professionals with who use their knowledge of the IT industry to help guide young adults who are seeking advice on life and their career path in information technology. For mentees who are already in college majoring in an IT related field or are already working as an IT professional, mentors provide constructive advice to help mentees grow and remain encouraged as they matriculate throughout their journey in the IT field. Mentors must be able to perform the following effectively: Mentor young adults Teach or instruct during seasonal IT development group workshops Share general knowledge about the IT field Build positive relationships with mentees FITPM mentors must have the following: Driver's License Must be at least 25 Complete Foundation volunteer form and background check Complete brief orientation or training provided by Foundation Experience as an IT professional, preferably an IT manager or supervisor

The Ron Howell Foundation provides mentoring and scholarship programs to aspiring information technology leaders in South Carolina. Although the primary mission of the foundation focuses on young leaders in the field of information and related technologies, several events are scheduled throughout the year with partners to educate and develop young people with other aspirations beyond information technology or aspirations that significantly influence IT leadership and management, such as project management, business management, healthcare management, retail management, education administration, etc. Seminars and workshops are held to equip and empower teens and young adults with aspirations to be leadership in the field of Information Technology. Speakers are needed to perform the following: Inspire teens and young adults in an IT leadership/management career path inspiration can also be given towards business management, project management, healthcare management, academic administration, and other fields that influence the IT leadership/management career path Deliver dynamic and thought-provoking presentations for teens and young adult participants Provide insightful and practical examples of personal career stories to benefit career decisions of teens and young adult participants Provide educational and career information on institutions, colleges, certifications, degrees, trends, trailblazers, and community leaders.

The Mentorship Program Coordinator is a volunteer position that reports to the CEO or COO and will perform teh following for the RHF Mentorship Program for 2023. Coordinate the promotion of our 2023 mentorship program and activities, also designing mentorship program flyers and providing those to the operations team to promote on our social media sites Collect and evaluate requests submitted on mentorship forms during the open application period Enter and maintain mentee application information in the organization's CRM database Pair mentees to existing RHF mentors for the program Send mentorship packet with guidelines and requirements to mentees and their respective mentors Email mentees and mentors periodically to check on progress of the 6 month program At program's end, generate a report of mentee progress and completion for the President and CLO of the foundation, identifying which mentees are eligible for CompTIA exam vouchers Coordinator must be a resident of the state of South Carolina.

Virtual Opportunity
Volunteer IT Project Management Instructors are needed to facilitate instruction in our virtual workshops. The estimated time commitment is 2-3 hours per session and sessions are typically help once every quarter. Instructors are needed to: Engage participants in virtual workshop Instruct learning that covers the project lifecycle (Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring, and Closing) Answer questions from participants Proceeds from the courses go towards scholarships that the our nonprofit provides to students and individual in the state of South Carolina. Preference for instructors from South or North Carolina. Those interested should respond to this posting or email info@rhfsc.org to share interest. A volunteer registration form will be sent to candidates based on openings available and matching candidate criteria.
