Mission Statement
The World’s Big Sleep Out is a one-off charity campaign with the aim to help one million people experiencing homelessness around the world through a global program of Sleep Out events in December 2019.
Description
On December 7th, for one night, an expected 50,000 people - including Will Smith, Dame Helen Mirren, and some of the world’s biggest musicians - will sleep out in support of people experiencing homelessness and displacement. In addition to increasing awareness globally, The World’s Big Sleep Out aims to raise $50,000,000, which will help 1,000,000 people around the world who do not have a place to call home.
As part of this movement, Chicago’s Sleep Out event will be hosted at DePaul University’s Lincoln Park Campus with an expected 2,000 attendees.
By sleeping out you will be helping people here in Chicago and around the world: 50% of the funds raised will go to organizations fighting homelessness internationally, including DePaul University's Institute of Global Homelessness, UNICEF USA, and the Malala Fund. The other 50% will stay in Chicago to support Depaul USA and All Chicago.
