Description

Since 1999, the Rockwall Room has provided for the immediate and urgent needs of abused and neglected children in Rockwall County, and supports the Child Protective Services caseworkers who help them. When a caseworker has to remove a child from their difficult situation, that child often leaves with nothing more than the clothes on his or her back. So we provide an actual room filled with emergency supplies, such as diapers, formula, hygiene articles, backpacks and school supplies which the caseworkers can access 24/7 to get what the kids need right away. We also purchase clothing, shoes, jackets, car seats, cribs, beds and bedding as necessary.

But we also know that these kids need additional support during all of the years that they may be under the care of CPS caseworkers in order to live as normal a life as possible. So we provide Easter baskets, Thanksgiving meals and Christmas gifts. We also enable them to purchase seasonally-appropriate clothes, shoes and coats as they grow and the weather changes.

Ultimately, we want to help keep these children safe and help them reach their full potential. We want them to get a good night's sleep in their own bed, and go to school wearing nice clothes that fit well, ready to take on the world. Most importantly, we want them to know that someone cares about them.
