Mission Statement

XBOT ROBOTICS was established (2009) to provide after school/summer/Saturday workshops and FIRST robotics team support offered to elementary, middle & high school students of SE Seattle. XBOT ROBOTICS is dedicated to providing educational opportunities in STEM fields while: --- (1) Reinforcing the self-confidence of our students --- (2) Enhancing students’ problem solving skills through hands-on learning approach, and --- (3) Increasing awareness of the student to pursue a career in STEM disciplines. -


XBOT Robotics has five major programs that is offered to students in SE Seattle. The majority of our students are from Franklin HS and the surrounding neighborhood. Franklin HS has a diverse student body is 94% students of color, 70% free/reduced lunch and 54% of the students are from homes that English is a second language.

XBOT Robotics offers

  1. Fall FIRST Tech Challenge Program developing leadership, teamwork, design/build/program 42 lb competition robot
  2. Fall Special Olympics Unified Robotics building Lego SUMO robots and competing in Nov at the Pacific Science Center
  3. Winter FIRST Robotics Competition robotics team design/build & program a 125 lb robot in 10 weeks!
  4. Franklin HS Library MakerSpace bringing 3D printing, laser cutting, drones and V/r experience to the 1200 students at Franklin HS
  5. Summer workshops: CAD, mechanical boot camp, programming

Volunteers needed:

  1. Mentor our students in teamwork, communication, designing/build or programming the competition robots.
  2. Board members to guide our five year plan including financial growth [fund raising], recruiting and training mentors, identifying a robotics workspace easily accessible by Franklin, Rainier Beach and Garfield robotics teams.
