Mission Statement

The Hot Cocoa Run (HCR) is a small "grassroots" event which started in 2007 as just a fun get together among friends who were fundraising for charity. For 9 years it was hosted right out of my driveway and included was 5k Run or Walk, a 10k Run, and as of 2014, the 1mi Family Frolic/Dog Walk was started to accentuate this as a family/pet friendly and community event . Participants are served hot cocoa post race which is brewed in a cast iron cauldron over an open fire. Friends, family and personal time, money and efforts are what pull this race together. You will meet a live Froste D-Snowman, get great peppermint hot cocoa and plenty of prizes including age-group awards from Zachy’s Wine and over $1000 in local merchant give-aways plus a great swag bag and finisher medals for all children (<15) and first timers.

Description

continued from above
This event remains committed to recycle/re-use as much as possible to benefit our planet AND ensure $0.90 of every dollar goes to the cause. In 2019 funds will remain benefitting ALS- Compassionate Care (CCALS) in memory of Claire Gormly Collier as well as proceeds going to Diabetes Foundation and Dementia/Alzheimer's disease in honor of my parents. Proceeds from the dog event will benefit animal foster care.

In 2007 we raising $1111 and over $22,000 was donated last year! This is a growing event, that is tons of fun, really touches your heart and shows how just a small group of friends can make such a big difference to help others. I am setting the 2019 goal to $25,000 and 400 entrants - Help be a part of this incredible event.
we need volunteers to man th eintersections, serve the hot cocoa and help with registration and much more
