Mission Statement

The Malden YMCA, founded in 1881, strengthens the foundations of community and supports individual needs by providing programs and services that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Description

The Malden YMCA is very proud of its 139-year history of being a welcoming organization that adapts to meet the changing needs of youth, families and seniors in the communities we serve; Everett, Malden and Medford.

By investing in our community, our Y ensures that everyone, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender-identity, income level, sexual orientation, immigration status or other protected class, has the opportunity to thrive.

We serve over 23,000 families and youth in programs such as the Y’s chronic disease prevention, fitness, aquatics, family engagement, STEM education, teen leadership development, college and career readiness, and music education.

A particular priority for the Malden YMCA is food security. Our Y strongly believes that no child should be hungry or feel shame because of what they have, or don’t have, to eat. Since 2016, the Year-Round and Summer Food Security Program has provided at no cost to the child or family, 225,049 healthy meals and 172,245 nutritious snacks to over 23,000 children in our communities of service. Our Grocery Programs provide free food and household items benefitting over 10,000 individuals.

We are proud of making sure that a family’s financial resources are not a barrier to enjoying the Y’s many life-changing experiences. Each year, our Y provides over $400,000 in free or reduced program or membership fees for youth and families in need.
