Mission Statement

To address the book famine that exists in many developing countries by creating libraries, community, school and mobile, through the use of volunteers and donated or very low cost books. In doing this, we will try to get the absolute most out of any resources and help we receive and thereby embody the principle of the Good Steward.

Books for Development f/k/a Good Steward Global Initiative is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that addresses the book famine that exists in many underdeveloped countries. Our Volunteers gather donated books, sort for quality and box for transport. These recycled books are distributed around the world. The organization strives to do the most good per contribution to embody the principles of a Good Steward.

I have been a volunteer with BFD for three years now. I have enjoyed my Saturday mornings having coffee with a great group of people who are passionate about literacy and just enjoy spending a few hours making a difference amongst nice people! I recently went on a mission trip with this group to Belize and can tell you that every dollar donated and book donated is put to good use.
