Description
Seed Programs International is a non-profit organization with over 50 years seed industry experience plus over 20 years experience in vegetable research and production. Also, SPI has 15 years of experience operating programs that successfully shipped to over 70 countries in five continents. SPI has shipped enough seed to plant over 1,000,000 vegetable gardens, providing more than 20 kinds of vegetables that are rich in vitamins and minerals often missing in people’s diets.
Our mission at SPI is provide a hand-up to those in need so that they can improve their lives through vegetable production. Vegetable production has the potential to improve the income and nutritional status of under-resourced households. SPI is dedicated to identifying approaches in which our charitable provisioning of quality vegetable seed acts as a catalyst. When interest and experience in utilizing diverse vegetables is boosted, this enables communities to begin procuring vegetable seed through local supply chains at market prices. Depending on the scale and responsiveness of local seed supply chains this process can take a number of cropping cycles before resilient connections are made. SPI looks to deploy our resources in projects where vegetable seed can catalyze sustained vegetable growing activity.
