The mission of AVPFirst is to create access to a national pipeline for youth beach volleyball development by establishing the highest quality standards through pro-level competitive play and tournaments, and by investing the necessary resources into underserved areas in order to create more vibrant, safe, and unified communities that ensure all youth, regardless of socioeconomic status or the neighborhood in which they reside, have more equitable access to the sport and become empowered, positive leaders.
AVPFirst is proud to be the signature youth volleyball initiative of the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour .
Through a series of clinics, educational workshops, court construction projects, and community leagues, we bring our model of experiential, transformative learning to low-to-moderate income communities across the country, unifying residents around a safe space that encourages healthy, collaborative play and empowers kids of color, especially females, to be leaders both on and off the court.
The main goal of our community programming is to use the sport of beach volleyball as a medium for positive physical and social-emotional youth development and empowerment byreinforcing values integral to the sport like communication, support, and teamwork. Tragically, over ⅓ of children (34%) in the United States live in single-parent households. That is why at every workshop kids are surrounded by nurturing, positive adult mentorswho look like and/or come from similar backgrounds as them , allowing each child to see that a life of service, sport, and success is possible for them too.
