Mission Statement

As a national keystone Finnish American organization, FinnFest USA is committed to creating a broader community of all Finnish Americans, Finnish citizens living in America, and other Americans. It accomplishes this through the creation of an annual festival, as well as through other relevant opportunities for community building.


FinnFest USA is an annual festival with strong academic and cultural components celebrating Finnish and Finnish American culture and heritage. It is a festival that brings modern Finland together with historic and contemporary America and features song, dance, lectures, drama, foods, crafts an d much more for festival-goers of all ages.
FinnFest USA is an annual event and the location changes every year. Previous locations include Seattle, WA; Minneapolis, MN; Ashtabula, OH and Marquette, MI, among others
The first FinnFest USA was held in Minneapolis, MN in 1983

FinnFest USA 2019 is being held on September 19-22 in and around Detroit, MI with the Sheraton Detroit Novi hotel, Finnish Center Association, and Detroit Finnish Co-operative Summer Camp hosting many of the events.
