Description

FabMo is a volunteer-run organization which was founded over 20 years ago when founders Hannah and. Jonathan Cranch visited the Design Center in San Francisco and witnessed garbage bags full of beautiful fabrics and other designer materials being thrown away. After asking permission, they brought some bags back to Palo Alto to share with their neighbors and creative friends.
Flash forward to the present day, when FabMo occupies a 4000 square foot warehouse in Sunnyvale and has over 100 active volunteers who sort, measure, price, merchandise and make these rescued materials available to the public at in-person shopping events and through our online store. FabMo participates in regular community outreach at local markets, Earth Day events, etc. and sponsors workshops on site and at local libraries to teach people new ways to use our upcycled materials. We provide free Classroom Art Kits and kid-friendly information about textile waste and recycling to K-5 teachers and happily welcome teachers and student groups to our facility for tours. FabMo is run by a seven-person Board of Directors and has dedicated committees which deal with their Marketing, Operations and Volunteer Management. We are always seeking energetic new volunteers of all ages who share our passionate for reducing waste and inspiring creative reuse.
