***PCAS Does Not offer Volunteer Hours for Court Ordered Community Service*** Do you enjoy being outside? Want a great way to get your steps in? Come walk our dogs!!! Here's a brief overview of our Dog Walker Opportunity: Shifts are typically 2-3 hours each, allowing for flexibility - especially during our hot summer months! We strive to get all shelter dogs out at least twice a day for a walk or time in our play yards. Volunteers work alongside our animal care technicians, and use tools like a white board so we can reach our daily goal of getting dogs out of their kennels. Volunteers make their own schedules using an easy online system. You can make new friends, learn animal handling techniques and get some exercise! Why is this important? Why spend your time with us? Animals typically come into our care through no fault of their own. We want them to feel loved and comforted during their stay at our shelter. That's where YOU come in! There's fewer happier moments than seeing a dog learn to trust again, or teaching them a cool trick! This is all part of what a dog walker brings to our shelter. Want to make a difference in your community? Join our Pasco Pack! Please visit our website to complete an application, and join the PCAS team today!

Are you passionate about controlling the feral cat population in Pasco? Do you want to make an impact in your community while also providing care to our feline friends? Then this volunteer role may be for you! WHO WE ARE: Pasco County Animal Services WHAT WE NEED: Dedicated, reliable volunteers who are willing to be trained using our equipment & vehicle to pick up or drop off feral cats before/after they have TNVR surgery. WHAT IS TNVR? Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, & Return. This is a process where we take feral cats in Pasco, and bring them to the shelter to be sterilized, vaccinated for rabies, and ear tipped. They are then returned back into their community for a happy, healthy life. Studies have shown that by using the TNVR method, it drastically decreases the feral cat population over time, and can actually help prevent new colonies from popping up where current colonies already exist. Our Veterinarians are committed to helping support this cause by performing these medical procedures on the cats of Pasco. Our Animal Control Officer team is committed to ensuring safe trapping, caring transport, and of course making sure these feline friends are supported each step of the way. BUT WE NEED HELP! We're looking for folks who can: Drive to various areas around Pasco county (using county vehicle) Pick up and load feral cats in their cages into the county vehicle Drop off and safely release the cats back into their colony areas post-surgery Must be comfortable lifting, stooping, crouching Must be comfortable handling metal cages & feral cats Must have a valid Driver's License and be at least 18 years of age Must have morning availability Should be comfortable speaking to the public as you'll likely be approached by citizens asking questions, wanting to understand what's happening in their community and the programs we offer If this sounds like a great role for you, please visit our PCAS website and complete a volunteer application today!
