Mission Statement

At the City of Dharma Realm Instilling Goodness Elementary School & Developing Virtue Secondary School (CDR IGDVS), our schools are dedicated to teaching both worldly knowledge and transcendental wisdom. Our fundamental goal is to teach children at a young age the underlying principles of being a good person. We teach students how to be pillars of society, how to help their communities, and how to become better people. Our Buddhist schools, in partnership with parents, work to instill and develop in our students the core virtues of kindness, filial piety, respect, trustworthiness, fairness, citizenship, integrity and humility. We provide an environment for our students to achieve their full academic potential and become outstanding citizens who will contribute to making our world a better place.

Description

Our school, an educational extension of City of Dharma Realm (CDR), is located in West Sacramento, California. Founded in 1993 on 14.5 acres of land, CDR is the educational center and the second largest branch monastery within the Dharma Realm Buddhist Association. Our school provides complete curriculum and courses from K-12. The picturesque landscape is beautiful. The school was founded in 2011. However, tracing back to the Instilling Goodness and Developing Virtues School in 1976 and 1980 at City of Ten Thousand Buddhas in Ukiah, California, we have more than forty years of tradition in education. Hence, the second establishment of this school took place 10 years ago. Neighboring the City Hall of Sacramento, our school is situated in a convenient location. With a pure energy and atmosphere, students can settle their minds to study in a wholesome environment.
