Description

The Aurora History Museum & Historic Sites (AHMHS) is a community-based organization featuring changing history, natural history, cultural, and arts exhibits focusing on a wide variety of topics with educational programs, tours, lectures, and family programs offered for all ages throughout the year. AHMHS collects and exhibits artifacts and documents pertaining to Aurora’s and Colorado’s history and maintains a reference library and archive open to the public by appointment. The Museum first opened in 1979 in a historic building with only two small galleries and an office. In 1990, the Museum moved to its present location, near the Aurora Municipal Center. The Museum is part of the c ity of Aurora’s Cultural Services Division. Today, it features a permanent exhibit on the history of Aurora, two changing exhibits, and a hands-on gallery.
