Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Our mission is to develop sustainable educational programs, work with the veterinary community, aide local Haitians in responsible pet ownership that focuses on dog welfare, population management, and continuing educational services (programs/resources)that will redirect the future of the street dogs.
Haiti Street Dog Project is a registered non-profit that was founded in 2015 by Diane Gaillard. Diane was visiting in Haiti, learning her ancestral roots, and enjoying the beauty the country offers, but was overwhelmed by the street dog population. She encountered sick, injured, and malnourished strays everywhere. As a dog lover herself, Diane knew she could not turn a blind eye. She immediately went to work upon returning home, advocating for Haiti's street dogs. Today she has accomplished a registered nonprofit and comprised of a small board of animal lovers looking to change the lives of the street dogs. Our goals are to develop educational programs, teaching the youth proper pet ownership, build a sanctuary to provide medical/surgical care to animals in need, offer spay and neuter clinics, missionary trips with volunteers, and support families who cannot afford proper food or medical care for their dogs.
We are currently working with a small community on a feed the strays program. We also have puppies in foster care that are going to be brought back to the States to be adopted out to families. There have been successful adoptions of our puppies, and we hear from some adopters regularly!
We have so much more work to do, we have only touched the surface. We need veterinarians who will travel to support our future spay/neuter campaigns. We also need IT support to improve our website and entice a greater audience, as well as a social media coordinator to help boost our online presence and reputation.
