Be a part of the 2 -week unique volunteer program in Mekong Delta was absolutely such an amazing experience for the volunteers and contribute meaningfully towards the lives of the underprivileged children as well as the disadvantaged people around the city. You’ll either be assigned in the Bui Thi Xuan Primary School, where there’s a serious lack of English teachers and most of the students own a poor living standard, Hoa Mai Halfway Home for Children, a love home for 70 local children aged 4-18 who are from disadvantaged families in the area, or the local Social Support Centre, which is a place for more than 200 residents. Actually, the volunteers don’t need any special qualification to join this project, all you need is a little patience and a sense of humor and enthusiasm. Your true attention and positive motivation would highly be appreciated and extremely helpful for the success of our program. The Volunteer Vietnam Mekong Delta program is made up of three main projects including our care and enrichment project at Hoa Mai Halfway Children Home, our English teaching project at Bui Thi Xuan Primary School, and our work with the disadvantaged residents at the Social Support Center. ITINERARY Day 1: Arrival in Can Tho Welcome to the Land of Coconuts! Our onsite staff will be there at Can Tho Airport to pick you up and quickly transfer to the Volunteer House (normally called the Orange House). The volunteers will be transported to the Orange House, located in Vi Thanh city, within 1 hour by car from the airport. Day 2 to Day 4: Orientation and Volunteer Work Normally, volunteers will be constantly provided an orientation by local staff. It’s simply because we want to provide basic training prior to the start of our programs, so we are able to host the volunteers without prior experience. You’ll be volunteering at the Primary School and the Social Support Centre in the mornings. And afternoons and some evenings you will be working at the Hoa Mai Children Home. Because the work schedule is varied, some afternoons are free to explore the city. You can head out and tick off all that’s there on your travel bucket list. Day 5: A one - day boating trip Our supportive staff is pleased to recommend and arrange a 1-day boating trip readily for the volunteers. You will be equipped with a local tour guide, who will take you to visit and explore the whole city during your adventure, regarding the local fruit gardens, specialties, and famous tourist destinations, etc.... Day 6 and Day 7: Go back to Volunteer Work Continuously, the volunteers will mainly focus on working in three working placements such as the Hoa Mai Children Home, Primary School, and local Social Support Centre. The types of work may be changed from project to project. Day 8: Departure It is your last morning in Vi Thanh City. Bid 'Goodbye' to your fellow volunteers and head home back, or depart for another awesome journey! Volunteers will have an opportunity to participate in three different projects during their stay. You’ll be working in groups under the support of our enthusiastic and friendly local staff to ensure that everything we contribute as a maximum impact on the lives of the people, and they can ultimately deserve a better life in comparison with the others. And one of the most incredible experiences in this program was that you’ll be offered a chance to travel and explore around the city to see the lives of the locals. On the weekdays, head out and walk around Vi Thanh city in the heart of the Mekong Delta, once you get free from your volunteer work, then we’ll take you to an amazing adventuring tour along the Mekong river bank and you will a chance to visit local fruit gardens. Volunteers will be immersed in the traditional Vietnamese lifestyle while having access to weekend getaways. Exactly, this kind of program would be a good choice for those who want to experience in both, volunteering and traveling. There is no doubt that this such a rewarding volunteer program gives the volunteers a life-changing experience to explore the heartbreaking natural scenery of the Mekong Delta, learn about the ancient history background and a special culture as well.
