Mission Statement

The mission statement of DCT LiveWell is to improve the quality of life and health for underserved communities by offering health/wellness, employment and workforce development opportunities, and creating technology/literacy experiences for target populations as youth, seniors, etc.

Description

DCT LiveWell is a community outreach center located in the Wynnewood Shopping Center of Dallas in Oak Cliff. The organization is a community expansion of the 40 year old Dallas City Temple Seventh-day Adventist Church community service ministry. The Community service ministry added a location in Wynnewood Shopping Center to provide access to clients who may not choose to attend a worship facility, and serve additional underserved African American and Hispanic clients. DCT LiveWell opened in Wynnewood Village in 2014 and provides three free target service areas: health and wellness, employment assistance and arts/literacy/ technology support upon request (need) without regard to geographic location or income eligibility.

Since 2014, DCT LiveWell has provided services to over 3,000 consumers. Our top organizational accomplishments include a 90% success rate for diabetes participants in lowering A1Cs; we have linked employment opportunities for over 300 ex felons, and enrolled over 500 clients in healthy cooking classes. With our teen tech center class this past summer, our youth were actually featured in Best Buy (one of the industry's leading tech retailers) for the music recordings they completed. This year we are adding a quarterly wellness clinic with medical, dental and vision services on site to expand our health service offerings.
