Description
Esperanza Threads is a non-profit located on the near west side of Cleveland with the goal of becoming self-sufficient as a social purpose enterprise. Currently we are providing the skills to sew on industrial machines and secondly provide workforce readiness with the skills that help trainees to meet the expectations, demands, standards and requisites of manufacturing employers. It also teaches the trainees how to conduct themselves in interviews and on the job. From the beginning, Esperanza Threads has had sustainability in mind. To this end, they have been creating a revenue stream for supporting the mission. The Esperanza Threads workers are hired from the job training program and they enter the manufacturing as an apprentice. The apprenticeship is a six month paid program. After that, they are hired at Esperanza Threads or go on to another company in Cleveland. A pilot program is being initiated where there will be two divisions: 1) sewing contract work for other companies; and 2) the custom t-shirts where fair trade, organic t-shirts. Esperanza Threads will train and hire individuals for the printing.
