Mission Statement

"Life After Inc's core concept is focused on empowering formerly incarcerated individuals with a series of standard and best practices, designed to promote employment and housing opportunities, while successfully socially integrating back into society; with the ultimate purpose of being capable of sustaining themselves and their families. Through joint initiatives, Life After Inc. will work on developing a database of solid companies and housing Management companies, willing to give ex-offenders not only opportunities for employment, but also adequate affordable housing. By leveraging social goodwill, we can hope to change public perception of ex-offenders from the stigma of being a 'social predator', to that of productive members of society, with the end goal being to build strong communities of successfully reformed citizens."

Description

OUR LONG TERM GOAL is to eventually get a housing facility SIMILAR to, but not exactly like, a transitional or halfway house. The difference is Life After's mission will be to intake recently released individuals (THAT ARE INTERESTED IN MAKING REAL CHANGES) through a 90 day in-house program that teaches LIFE skills. How to fill out an application, open a bank account, shop for a house, apartment, or car..., learn the difference between associates, acquaintances, friends, co-workers, and family...and the ways to associate with them all. Learn how the world views you and how you can deal with and/or avoid negative confrontations with any or all of the above. After long periods of incarceration, these skills are no longer learned by ex-offenders, they have to be taught. I BELIEVE THE KEY TO BREAKING THE CYCLE OF RECIDIVISM, is ATTEMPTING to change the 'point-of-view' AND the perception of what an ex-offender thinks he/she can or can not do to maintain being a productive member of society.
