Mission Statement
The Geek Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides interactive education to future engineers, techies, and makers--especially women, at-risk youth, and the underemployed--regardless of their ability to pay.
Description
While gender diversity in some scientific fields is on the rise, the technology fields are actually becoming less and less diverse. With the availability of web-based resources like Codeacademy, it is now easier than ever to learn programming skills on one’s own; however, many people learn best in a classroom environment with active guidance and feedback.
What We Do
From after school clubs to presentations at local schools, The Geek Foundation aims to spark new interest in coding.
In 2014, only 15% of computer science graduates in Missouri were female. Minorities in tech need mentors.
The Geek Foundation is founded on principles of inclusiveness and a genuine desire to always keep learning.
Our courses are meant to even the playing field. Donate to support the tuition of those who are struggling to make ends meet.
