Mission Statement

Our missions is to empower homeless families and individuals to recover from crisis situations and return to being self-supporting, productive, and independent members of our community.

Description

Beginning in 1986, the Judeo-Christian Outreach Center has served the Hampton Roads community by providing a safe place to stay, a hot, wholesome meal, helping those in crisis battling drug or alcohol addiction as well as education to help our clients move forward with their lives.

Our services include the following:

PREVENTION - We serve free meals 365 days a year to the community and provide groceries through our Food Pantry to those in need as a preventive measure against homelessness.

CRISIS MANAGEMENT - We provide six-month emergency housing for up to 50 individuals at a time through our men’s dorm and women/family dorm, as well as food and essential clothing. We also operate an apartment complex with 14 units designated for homeless veterans who can live up to two years rent free and 8 units for permanent supportive housing for the chronically homeless with disabilities.

EMPOWERMENT - We empower people to forge a life of independence, self-sufficiency and strength by providing substance abuse counseling, education resources and direction, vocational support, employment services, job placement and, personal counseling and encouragement. We also offer a G.E.D. preparation class and computer skills training for our residents.
