Mission Statement

At the Cultivate Foundation, we believe in entrepreneurship as a force for change, and that access to opportunity is key to making a difference in the lives of farmers across the globe. That’s why we support West African entrepreneurs in agribusiness so they can create high quality and ethical products, develop a solid business model, and find a fair route to market. African-owned and managed agribusiness provides economic empowerment to those who need it, and introduces new fair trade products to the market.

Description

The Cultivate Foundation was founded in 2018 and currently operates in Ghana, where we have running two projects helping over 250 farmers. Our current campaign centers around helping the women of one of these groups, grow their moringa farming businesses. A single $30 donation gives access to land and plants a moringa tree, with a secured buyer who promises to buy all quality yields. Each woman will make up to $4500/year, which enough to feed and pay school fees for a family of six.

Though more income is our target, our main goal is ultimately the betterment of the farmers we work with. This means we do not simply look at money, but at the whole person and try to help in all facets. More efficient and organized work, we have learned, leads ultimately to less time on the farm and more time for family or other income opportunities. By looking holistically at the farmers we work with, we hope to bring about positive changes in them, their loved ones, and their communities.
