Mission Statement

Mercy Housing & Human Development (MHHD), a HUD recognized Mississippi Nonprofit, 501(c) 3, has been a vital hub in the Mississippi Gulf Coast nonprofit arena for 20 years. MHHD recognizes the need and the right for sustainable affordable housing for families in South Mississippi with the core to this mission being financial health and sustainability. By using integrated strategies we are able to respond to the contemporary needs of the Gulf Coast by empowering low-to-moderate families to become financially self-sufficient, though we welcome everyone to benefit from our programs. Building better financially healthy lives, one by one, creates a stronger Community.

Description

Mercy Housing provides a holistic approach to financial literacy and health initiatives. We provide services from Credit and Budget Counseling to Rental Counseling to the pathway to home ownership. We are a HUD Agency that helps to unlock federal and local down payment assistance grant that help families get into affordable housing. We also provide Foreclosure and Loss Mitigation for families going thru tough times. We wrap those services in health and life skills training to support a sustainable lifestyle. We offer VITA Tax Services, Living on a Budget, Estate Planning and also disaster planning and recovery initiatives to help our Community grow.
