We need volunteers that are willing to give a few hours of their time to visit our patients in facilities or at their homes. Volunteers sit with patients and talk with them, read, play music, and enjoy time together. Your time is greatly appreciated not only by our staff and the patients but also by the family members. Please contact me if you are interested for more details.

U.S. retired veteran needed to serve fellow veteran hospice patients in Jefferson and Harrison counties. Your primary responsibility will be to visit patients in their location of service (in their home or senior nursing facility) to engage in conversation and activities of common interest (games, sports television, news, etc). This small act of kindness will help veterans reflect and find closure on one of the most meaningful chapters of their lives. Other opportunities open to our veteran volunteers include joining SouthernCare hospice team members at veteran organizations to discuss opportunities available to veterans, participation in veteran pinning ceremonies, veteran holiday events and military funeral scheduling. Even a few hours of your time each month can make a huge difference for veterans near the end of life.
