Mission Statement

Minnesota Connect Aphasia Now (MnCAN) is a non-profit dedicated to helping people with aphasia improve their quality of life and live fully and independently within their communities. The organization pursues three main activities focused directly on people with aphasia: provide conversation groups, function as a resource and develop community support. In addition to providing conversation practice and strategies for people with aphasia, a major focus of the groups was to provide training of Speech Pathology graduate students in the Life Participation Approach to Aphasia (LPAA) and supported conversation strategies (SCA). We currently support over 102 persons with aphasia and their family members in 10 conversation groups, care partner support group an education and support program for people with Primary Progressive Aphasia.and other ancillary programs such as a Toastmasters Gavel Club and Drama Club for people with aphasia, a One to One Communication Partner program, an informal coffee club and a support group for Young People with Aphasia.
