Comanche is an apolitical, non-religious, non-military, and gender inclusive organization that serves as a historic, working museum ship as well as an educational and environmental research vessel.
Comanche is a 75 year old authentic and unique Cutter Ship (built in 1944) that is available to the public for free self-guided tours, and is the only functional vessel of its kind containing its original equipment.
Thanks to volunteers and donors, guests can come aboard and learn about marine vessel operation, safety & restoration, WWII history, as well as environmental science all while feeling what it would be like to be part of the US Navy or Coast Guard Crew. Comanche is an apolitical, non-religious, non-military, and gender inclusive organization. Current notable affiliations include the US Coast Guard Tug Association, Museumships, Retired Tug Boat Association and Historic Naval Ships Association.
