The New Jersey Chapter is fueled by the mission to save lives by providing education and support to the Garden State. The grassroots work we do focuses on eliminating the loss of life from suicide by: delivering innovative prevention programs, educating the public about risk factors and warning signs, raising funds for suicide research and programs, and reaching out to those individuals who have lost someone to suicide. As a part of AFSP’s growing nationwide network of chapters, we bring together people from all backgrounds who want to prevent suicide in our communities. Families and friends who have lost someone to suicide, vulnerable individuals, mental health professionals, clergy, educators, students, community/business leaders, and many others energize our chapter.
We are here to let you know about our upcoming Jersey Shore Out of the Darkness Community walk and ways that you may be able to help out by volunteering .
Last year’s walk raised over $170,000 and saw over 1,700 walkers. This year’s walk will take place on Saturday, September 14 at Bar Anticipation.
The Out of the Darkness Walks are proof that when people work together they can make big changes in the world. They are AFSP’s largest fundraiser - they produce millions for suicide prevention programs, unite those who have been affected by suicide, and create communities that are smart about mental health. AFSP is the leader in the fight against suicide. We fund research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.
AFSP has set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate 20% by 2025. With your support, you could help us achieve this goal and save lives!
