Mission Statement

The mission of Teachers Supporting Teachers is to mobilize and support teacher leaders to have a lasting impact in their schools.

Description

Teachers leave urban schools due to a lack of meaningful leadership opportunities. High teacher attrition leads to lower math and ELA scores for students and costs $7 billion annually. At Teachers Supporting Teachers we believe that teachers are a school's greatest resource. The mission of Teachers Supporting Teachers is to mobilize and support teacher leaders to have a lasting impact in their school.

Mobilize (EDworking Sessions)

We work to create a space for teacher leaders to plan actionable, student-centered, change in their schools by hosting quarterly networking sessions hosted at the Willis Tower led by local leaders in education. Over 130 schools have been represented at these events.

Support (TST Impact Teams)

Teacher Liaisons and their administrators identify an area of growth for the school. With the help of 1-on-1 leadership development with a TST Coach, the Teacher Liaison works with a team of 4+ teachers in their school to enact their ideas. We currently work in 20 schools across Chicago.

Our big goal is for teachers leaders remain and create a lasting impact in their schools. We believe that fighting teacher attrition is the most actionable area for improving the student experience in American education and are working to provide teacher leaders meaningful leadership opportunities so that they feel empowered within their schools and profession.
