Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
Building simple, decent housing in partnership with God's people in need of adequate housing.
Families should not have to live in poverty housing. Habitat for Humanity provides a "hand up" for families needing simple, decent and safe homes. 75 families have found home ownership through Lawrence Habitat for Humanity. It works!
How does Habitat work?
Habitat for Humanity is in the business of building homes in partnership with families in need. It is a partnership that brings these families together with people committed to making poverty housing unnecessary. We build together, and the family buys the home.
Getting involved with Lawrence Habitat is easy and does not have to demand a lot of your time, money or attention. If you enjoy hands on activity we have build crews on the job site every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday (weather permitting) from 9am-3pm or volunteer at our ReStore and help fund houses while saving hundreds of tons of great useable material from filling our landfill. If construction is not your strength consider serving on a committee, the Board of Directors or helping your church become a Covenant Church with Lawrence Habitat.
