PPC Hospice provides volunteer opportunities for high school students beginning at age 16 and for college students of all ages. Teen and college volunteers can visit PPC Hospice patients and other residents in group homes for porch visits or work in the office providing administrative office support. PPC Hospice provides reference letters and service hours for those students who are working toward course requirements or scholarships.

Hospice volunteers can dedicate as little or as much time as they wish. Some volunteers donate several hours each week while others commit to a few hours each month. All hospice volunteers receive training to ensure that they feel comfortable performing their requested/assigned care activities. Listed below are examples of common hospice volunteer duties: Being present with the patient to allow their caregiver to rest and/or run errands. Listening to the patient. They may share their concerns, regrets, and/or areas of thankfulness with you. You may have opportunities to encourage the patient to share their life story. So many families just need a few hours to take a break, run errands, go to an appointment for themselves. But the obvious is, they can't leave their loved one home alone. That is where a hospice volunteer that desires to make a difference in someone else's life can be so valuable. Hospice Volunteers can dedicate as little or as much time as they wish. Some volunteers devote several hours each week while others commit to a few hours each month.
