Mission Statement

Girls Rock Charlotte is a nonprofit that amplifies the confidence of ALL girls and women through the power of music. Our programs help girls and gender diverse youth to find the confidence and compassion to stand up for themselves and for each other.

Description

Rock Music Summer Camps In our week-long, full-day summer music camps, campers learn an instrument, form a band, write an original song with their peers, attend various workshops, and perform their songs for family and friends at a concert at the end of the week.

All of our workshops are taught by leading women, musicians, artists and professionals in the Charlotte community. Our camp is designed to build each camper's confidence in a space that encourages creativity, communication, collaboration and inclusivity.
Film Camps In our summer film camp...our campers learn how to make a short film in one week! They form a film crew, learn how to storyboard, write, direct, shoot, record, edit and debut their own film. Our film camp features "accessible technology" - smart phones, tablets, laptops; putting the power to tell their story into their own hands. Mentored by leading women in the industry, our film campers learn that their vision, voices and stories matter.

Women make up only 17% of professionals working behind the camera telling the stories that shape our lives...and Girls Rock Charlotte is going to change that!
