Mission Statement

To bring people together in a spiritual way of sovereign, benevolence indigenous to the Americas. To create survival skills in a natural and ecological way as our ancestors of Native American decent. To acquire land for the purpose of building a Spiritual Village from monies obtained through donations and/or personal gifts, fund raisers, and investments made by the Council. To walk in the way of our Creator, with the trees, the singed people and all that is life (known to our people as the Red Road) and/or Pulblic Law 95-341 American Indian Religious Freedom. To protect the spiritual right of the traditional Native American way of life.

Description

TENA Council has been in existence since the 1980's. We hold Native American ceremonies to bring people of all Nations together in a peaceful way. One way we practice this is by having an event called the Honoring of the Elders Gathering, held annually. We are all volunteers and none of us get paid to put this event on. To financially supplement this event we do security and traffic control at the Stanford Powwow held in Palo Alto on Mother's Day weekend. This event pays us and in turn we use this money for the Honoring of the Elders Gathering, which covers at least half of our budget. We need volunteers for this Stanford Powwow, as it is a 3 day event. Our Council also holds bi-monthly sweat ceremonies.
