TRACTION

Description

TRACTION is a diverse group of trans, nonbinary, and gender-diverse individuals and allies who have come together with the goal of uplifting the larger transgender community. Our approach is two-pronged: we bring people together at our events, and reach people in the community through service projects. At the TRACTION Summit, the community can come together to collaborate, connect, and share ideas. We invite local organizations to come share the work that they are doing to benefit the trans and nonbinary communities here in the Pacific Northwest, and to discuss issues facing transgender and nonbinary populations today. By joining together, our voices are amplified! Through our service projects, we collaborate with existing organizations to support them in reaching underserved populations. Our goal here is to empower transgender and nonbinary individuals who are not already well-supported. By reaching out to and serving these populations in multiple ways, and by collaborating with existing organizations, we hope to act as a safety net to create support for the whole community. With this two-pronged system, we can both create a space where people can come to share ideas, and also reach out to people where they are already living, working, and surviving. In this way, we hope to best identify the various needs of the community and create new types of support that serve the whole trans individual, and the whole trans community.
