Mission Statement

The primary purpose of Face-to-Face Portland, as stated in its vision, is to create cohesive connections between cops, kids, and our community. We seek to unify people, redefine our approach, transform relationships, and create change.

Description

The willingness of a community member to trust the police depends on how they feel the actions of the police reflect the actual values of their city. How does the police department get to know the area they work to protect? That’s where we come in.

Face-to-Face Portland is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that identifies and builds avenues for successful face-to-face relationships between police officers and the community.

Our Liaison Family Program pairs individuals, couples, and families with new hires. In a non-COVID world we would show them around Portland -- today we can do that virtually. We can still be there as a listening ear and as a friend. As the trust with these individual relationships grows, so will the mutual trust between police officers and our entire community. We provide the home-away-from-home emotional support and friendship our officers need to settle into a new area.
