The Society (for Handicapped Citizens) of Medina County serves adults with disabilities and we are currently in search of volunteers to take part in sharing their gift of culinary skills. Who doesn't love food? Our individuals love to bake and help out in the kitchen. With the holidays fast approaching, our group homes would love to help bake some cookies, pies, or other baked goods with you! We are in search of individuals or groups joining us for cooking or baking in our group homes throughout Medina County. You can volunteer with us for a single event or ongoing as it fits your schedule. The impacts of COVID-19 prevented many activities and volunteers from working directly with our residents over the past few years, and The Society is looking forward to inviting volunteers to work with our residents and staff once again. Whether you are an individual looking to share your time, expertise, and good food with us once or twice throughout the year, or a group interested in cooking/baking with us on a regular basis, we would love for you to share your skills with us. The Society has been working for individuals with disabilities and their families in the community for over 70 years. This volunteer opportunity would impact the individuals we work for by providing our individuals with an opportunity to learn something new, interact with people of the community and enjoy a sweet treat. Thank you for considering this opportunity with The Society!

The Society has been serving individuals with disabilities and their families in the community for over 70 years. Our Medina County day program, The Link, promotes community engagement and inclusivity for adults with disabilities. We are currently inviting those who have certified therapy dogs to join us at this program on Friday, October 20th at 10:00 a.m. to share your therapy pup with the individuals we serve. Your dog must be certified as a therapy dog and you must be able to show proof of your dog's most recent vaccinations. You should also be comfortable with your therapy dog being among a small group of other therapy dogs. If you are unable to join us on this day and time, but are interested in bringing your dog in the future, please also reach out as we are looking to have therapy dogs visit this program monthly. If you are interested or have questions, please contact us through this post or email volunteer@shc-medina.org.

The Society (for Handicapped Citizens) of Medina County serves adults with disabilities and we are currently in search of volunteers to visit our group homes (within Medina County) to do art projects/crafts with our individuals. Are you creative and want to share your creativity with others? This is a great opportunity for someone who likes to DIY or just be creative to spend time with others, teaching, or just having fun being crafty. This volunteer opportunity would be suitable for an individual or group and could be a one-time visit or ongoing visits (weekly, monthly, quarterly). The opportunity is endless. The volunteer(s) are expected to have their own transportation. Your own supplies are not required, as there would be opportunity to assist in activities already planned by our Activity Coordinator. However, a new/different craft or project is highly encouraged. All volunteers will be expected to maintain confidentiality and complete a volunteer application (prior to visiting our group homes). The impacts of COVID-19 prevented many activities and volunteers from working directly with our residents over the past few years, and The Society is looking forward to inviting volunteers to work with our residents and staff once again. Whether you are an individual looking to share your time, expertise, and creative skills with us once or twice throughout the year, or a group interested in creating masterpieces with us on a regular basis, we would love for you to share your skills and time with us. This volunteer opportunity would impact the individuals we work with by providing them opportunities to think creatively, interact with community members and learn new skills. As well as provide staff with opportunity to focus on individualized care and other activities.
