We seek to empower teens and various individuals to become leaders in the community and live nonviolent lives through affirmation, respect for all, community building, cooperation, and trust.
Who is SBAVP?
The Santa Barbara Alternatives to Violence Project is a multicultural volunteer organization that is dedicated to reducing interpersonal violence in our society, exploring different ways of handling conflict, and bringing people together as we seek to better understand one another. SBAVP has offered laughter-filled community workshops in Santa Barbara since 1992. We also offer workshops at the Lompoc Federal Prison! SBAVP is part of AVP California, AVP USA, and AVP International.
SBAVP offers workshops that aid participants in discovering new conflict management tools, learning about relationships and communication, and building leadership skills, thus enabling individuals to:
Build successful interpersonal interactions
Reflect and gain deeper insights into themselves
Find positive, new approaches to life
These experiential workshops empower individuals not only to liberate themselves from the burden of violence, but also to become leaders in their communities.
