Mission Statement

The Sunscreen Film Festival is organized and presented by the St. Petersburg Clearwater Film Society, Inc. D/B/A Sunscreen Film Society, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity dedicated to education, economic development, informing the public about the art of visual storytelling, enhancing opportunities for local filmmakers to develop their craft and art, and increasing the public’s awareness and support of local filmmaking as a cultural and economic asset. In addition to the festival, the Sunscreen Film Society also puts on year-round film appreciation events and hosts a summer filmmaking camp for talented teens with an interest in filmmaking.

Description

Now in its 14 th year, the Sunscreen Film Festival is Tampa Bay’s oldest and longest-running mainstream film festival! The festival is known for its friendly atmosphere in a sun-kissed waterfront setting. The festival celebrates independent films over four days, including screenings of top-notch local and international films, workshops and panels featuring entertainment industry veterans, and amazing parties! The festival was named one of the "25 Coolest Film Festivals" by MovieMaker magazine and was one of just 23 festivals around the world to be sponsored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (the "Academy" of the "Academy Awards") during the 2013-2014 festival season.
