Are you passionate about community, health and social philanthropy? Start Giving Local is a 501(C)3 GuideStar Platinum community nonprofit and we are searching for volunteer board members to help us expand our reach and positive program impact. Volunteering & charitable giving are wonderful ways to express what matters most to you as an individual. EXPECTATIONS OF THE BOARD AS A WHOLE The mission of Start Giving Local is to support the greater social good by promoting wellness, fostering inclusion and innovation & empowering everyone with the ability to easily support any secular, non-political cause. As the highest leadership body of the organization and to satisfy its fiduciary duties, the board is responsible for * determining the mission and purposes of the organization * selecting and evaluating the performance of the CEO/executive director * strategic and organizational planning * ensuring strong fiduciary oversight and financial management * fundraising and resource development * approving and monitoring Start Giving Local’s programs and services * enhancing Start Giving Local’s public image * assessing its own performance as the governing body of Start Giving Local EXPECTATIONS OF INDIVIDUAL BOARD MEMBERS Each individual board member is expected to * know the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs * faithfully read and understand the organization’s financial statements * serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for Start Giving Local to advance its mission * leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to fully achieve Start Giving Local's mission * give a meaningful personal donation through in kind volunteer activity and/or financial contribution * help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing, and can help the organization achieve its goals * prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in board meetings * participate fully in one or more committees BOARD MEMBERS ARE ALSO EXPECTED TO * follow the organization’s bylaws, policies, and board resolutions * sign an annual conflict-of-interest disclosure and update it during the year if necessary, as well as disclose potential conflicts before meetings and actual conflicts during meetings * maintain confidentiality about all internal matters of Start Giving Local Want to learn more? Are you an endurance athlete with a passion for social impact and a strong social media following? Our Candid Platinum nonprofit organization is currently searching for ambassadors for our "volunteer athletes charity program." We are looking for inspiring individuals who care about community health and wellness and who can help us spread the word about Start Giving Local. Why Volunteer: Experience, Purpose, Community, and Fun. We are thrilled to be launching a broader, "volunteer athletes" program that will help our nonprofit organization reach a wider audience and have a deeper positive impact. You will be part of our inaugural volunteer brand ambassador team. In exchange for your volunteer effort, you'll have an opportunity to receive free race and event entry fees, Start Giving local branded athletic gear and fundraising support. You'll be directly interacting with our Founder and board members to help our organization shape it's volunteer athlete outreach program. Job Purpose: As a volunteer ambassador, you will be responsible for the marketing and promotion of the Start Giving Local brand. You will work as a liaison between our organization and the endurance sport audience you currently reach. You may act as a representative for our brand by attending/hosting relevant events, handing out swag, and promoting us on your social media platforms. You are encouraged to come up with other ideas to help increase engagement with Start Giving Local and your audience. Responsibilities Familiarize yourself with Start Giving Locals mission, vision, and goals Work closely with the marketing team to conceptualize campaigns and strategies Educate your network and the general public about our brand Create social media content in order to drive brand awareness and attract new consumers Represent Start Giving Local at athletic events Maintain a positive image of the brand at all times Increase brand awareness, brand consideration and user engagement among target market Generate new Start Giving Local volunteer fundraising athletes. Qualifications: Prior experience as an endurance athlete influencer or coach highly desired Friendly, approachable, and outgoing personality Great at creating and maintaining relationships Excellent verbal and written communication skills Well-connected and active in the endurance sports community Commitment to training & participating in endurance events in 2020 Working knowledge of social media platforms and tools Strong presence on social media a plus

Start Giving Local is an inclusive and purpose-driven organization that makes it easy to make an impact. I had the opportunity to train with the organization for my first ever marathon and now I actively serve as a volunteer coordinator so other people have the opportunity to experience SGL
