Mission Statement

To continually redefine the way our community experiences and engages with classical music.

Description

With 70 seasons under our belt, we may be one of Denver's oldest orchestras, but we certainly don't act our age.

Dr. Antonia Brico, the first woman to conduct the New York Philharmonic Orchestra in 1938, founded our organization in 1948 as the Denver Businessmen’s Orchestra.

We love music - especially live music. We’re passionate about supporting others who feel the same way, be they musicians, patrons, or volunteers. We’re dedicated to ensuring that the world’s great symphonic compositions are performed, heard, felt, understood, appreciated and valued in the Metro Denver area - and that they are presented in an accessible and approachable way.

We present at least seven themed full orchestra concerts per season, enhanced with pre- and post-concert events that create a fully entertaining experience for our audiences. Additionally, we host two to five chamber music concerts in smaller nightclub-type venues titled "DPO With a Twist," created as an opportunity to bring our classical music into a more comfortable and intimate setting.
