Screening Team members seek to understand what brought prospective volunteers to the Red Cross, their areas of interest and what position they would find most meaningful. Screeners use their understanding of the volunteer and match it with the needs of the organization, connecting volunteers with positions for which they are both interested and well suited. Schedules and conducts volunteer screening interviews. Reviews and has general understanding of volunteer opportunities. Prepares for screening interviews following standardized training protocol. Matches volunteers to positions for which they are best suited, based on skills, interest, availability and available options. Updates Volunteer Connection, Red Cross' online volunteer management system, with candidate information and makes referrals as required. Qualifications: Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually Broad understanding of the American Red Cross and its opportunities for volunteer service (training provided). Enthusiastic about American Red Cross programs. Ability to work with computer database (training provided) Excellent oral and written communication skills - ability to express ideas and facts clearly Comfortable making phone calls to volunteers Previous experience with customer service is a plus HR experience or experience conducting interviews a plus

Sheltering Service Associates complete tasks necessary for shelter operations and interacts with clients to ensure their needs are met. Sheltering Service Associates support the day-to-day activities within a shelter, which can include working in reception, registration, feeding, dormitory, information or other areas within a shelter. Responsibilities vary depending on assignment. May include providing support to one or more of the following areas within the shelter: reception registration dormitory feeding information supply Provide excellent customer service to clients Qualifications: Ability to work in a continuously changing environment in which work priorities may change frequently. Comfortable interacting with people from various diverse background whose lives have been disrupted and many are presenting immediate needs. Comfortable working in a team environment as a frontline worker under the direction of a supervisor Valid Driver’s License (required for Divisional and National Deployments) Available to sign up for shifts on consecutive days (shifts may be 4, 8 or 12 hours long) Willing to complete 3.5 hours of virtual self-paced training required for position Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies
