Description

The United Nations Association of Rochester (UANR) is a non-profit organization in Rochester, New York established in 1945 to carry out the mission of and to strengthen and support the United Nations Charter. Human rights and global peace is the focus of the work UNAR performs. UNAR offers an exciting opportunity for students and volunteers interested in pursuing careers in global or international relations, public service, or law.

The UNAR hosts a Model UN Conference for high school students each March in Rochester, NY. Model UN is a simulation of the UN General Assembly held in New York City. Model UN students become delegates representing member states and participate in debates, speeches, negotiations, and write resolutions. They resolve conflicts and vote for the best interest of the state they are representing. Model UN clubs meet all over the United States.

The UNAR also offers an internship program that relies on valuable community partnerships. This community based program offers students the opportunity to gain an awareness of various careers and encourages participation from surrounding college students.
