Inspiring Connections Outdoors (ICO)Sacramento is a volunteer community outreach program that provides outdoor opportunities for youth and young adults who don't have many chances to explore and enjoy the natural world. We partner with agencies in Sacramento who serve those in need and take their youth hiking, camping, snowshoeing, to the beach, river rafting, backpacking and much more. Love the outdoors? Want to bring that experience, joy and passion to others who would not ordinarily get the opportunity? Then we are the organization for you and would love your help.
Our schedule of trips/events is on Meetup.com. Because we work with youth, it is a 3 step process to become a volunteer and have access to our Meetup site. All volunteers must pass a background check, submit 3 personal references and fill out a volunteer application. Access to the application is on our website - Please check it out! It is worth the effort to become a volunteer. For over 2 decades we have promised each of our seven agencies that we work with that we will take their youth on a minimum of four trips per year. That is at least 28 trips per year that we plan, provide gear and transportation for, staff and execute. We ask that our volunteers attend a minimum of 2 trips per year, most trips take place Saturdays and/or weekends. It is our goal to increase our volunteer membership and take additional trips thereby exposing even more youth to the peace and beauty of the outdoors.
ICO Sacramento provides fun, well-organized outings year-round to kids who seldom get out into nature. ICO takes them hiking, camping, backpacking, rafting, and snow shoeing. The trips are tailored to the interests and abilities of each group of kids.
