Mission Statement
To preserve and teach the history of American fire fighting, while providing year-round fire prevention education to children and citizens of Ohio and beyond.
Description
We are located in an authentically restored 1908 horse-drawn Columbus engine house.
We
1. Share the history of the fire service
2. We offer fire safety education programs to all ages. (everyone between preschool age to senior citizens)
We offer scheduled tours. These consist of a historical tour and a fire safety class.
For our walk - in visitors; we offer a personal tour with a guide through our historic portion of the museum and then all of our visitors are given the opportunity for a lesson in our fire safety department.
Our volunteers are asked to learn the historic information to share with our visitors and to answer any possible questions.
We would also would like volunteers interested in working in our gift shop. This would require getting along with people and operating the cash register.
One of our achievements is: We have the largest full time fire safety education department of all fire museums in the U.S.
Our hours of operation are Tues-Sat 10am - 4pm
Volunteers may pick their own days and as many days as they like. Volunteer days are Tues thru Sat.
