Mission Statement
FAST (First Aid Support Team) is an organisation made up of health professionals from all over the world working across Calais and Dunkirk. We provide first aid, first aid kits, organise training for both volunteers and displaced people and assist patients to access appropriate (emergency) healthcare. We strongly believe in each individual’s right to being treated with dignity and respect and apply this basic human right in our day-to-day efforts in helping and assisting people forced from their homes by violence, persecution, and poverty.
Description
FAST is an association registered in The Netherlands with volunteers from all over the world on a short to long term basis.
We strongly believe in each individual’s right to being treated with dignity and respect and apply this basic human right in our day-to-day efforts in helping and assisting people forced from their homes by violence, persecution, and poverty.
FAST started in 2015 as a group of friends providing first aid in the so called 'Jungle’ in Calais. From old caravans where we treated more than 50 people a day we moved to a travelling team assisting displaced people in different areas in Calais and Dunkirk.
Since 2019 we have become a registered association with active members who advise our coordinators and the ground team and/or travel to the north of France to provide first aid. We believe that everyone should have access to first aid, whatever their status, religion or other background they may have.
