Mission Statement

We strive to help protect Florida's ecosystem and while protecting the littlest swine. In Florida all pigs that do not have id tags and uncontained on property are considered feral. This ties the hand of local animal control authority and rescues. We believe by protecting domestic swine that have abandoned, abuse or neglected in Florida wild we can draw attention to needs of animals that have been abandoned and the importance of protecting wild Florida

Description

We started with Animal Allies Florida in January 2018, however by October 2018 we realized the degree of the "mini pig problem". We are now the first pig rescue in the state of Florida to be certified by state veterinarian to remove pigs from the wild. Being that even mini pigs who have been cruelly abandoned are considered feral we decided they too needed a dedicated advocate. Since we became our own entity we have worked with the state vet to make Florida the first state in America to accept microchips as ID tags for pigs under 24" at shoulder. We have removed pigs from 2 counties, including in animal cruelty and abandonment cases.

We are starting "Squealing In the Kitchen" where we will provide groceries and help busy families learn how to prep yummy healthy meals that are affordable, quick and make the whole family squeal in the kitchen!

In the future we will need help with fundraising, grant writing to help purchase a large tract of land that we want to turn into a livestock hurricane evacuation point, secular summer camp, and hands on training facility to build hurricane resistant livestock shelters.

We need volunteers right now to help us with

  • Daily care and feeding of pigs
  • Building shelters and sheds
  • Data Entry
  • Social Media presence
  • Fundraising
