HOSPICE AND HOME CARE OF ALEXANDER COUNTY INC

Description

Hospice care is offered when a patient is no longer receiving curative treatment and has a life expectancy of six months or less. It includes palliative (comfort) care in addition to a wide range of other services including medical and nursing care, medications and equipment, hospice aides, as well as emotional, spiritual and bereavement support for the entire family.

Volunteer must be 18 years or older who and be willing to volunteer their time to support the various activities of the hospice organization. Those who have had a personal experience with Hospice are encouraged to join the Hospice team. Volunteers play a vital role in the work of Hospice. It will allow you to share your time and talents in a very meaningful way.

Volunteers help patients, families, and staff in a variety of ways: they visit with patients, listen to their stories, read to them, play games with them, provide much needed caregiver relief, assist with special events and generally "be present" when needed.
