Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
We are a community-driven support and outreach organization which provides social resources and engagement to economically disadvantaged individuals living in New York City. We hope to help individuals gain access to resources that will improve overall their well-being.
Some of the work that we do at Faces in Between involves inviting individuals who are currently experiencing homelessness to share their stories in various settings like schools, offices, and community centers in an effort to reduce the stigmas and increase community connections. We also do street outreach where we distribute sleeping bags, coats, underwear, socks, menstrual products and other essential survival items to street homeless individuals.
Through the work that we’ve done at Faces in Between, we understood the need to expand our efforts and focus on supporting youth who are experiencing housing instability and homelessness. As a result of this, we founded a program called SNACC which stands for Sustainable Nutrition And Community Connection. SNACC is an after-school cooking initiative providing nutritional education and hands on cooking-skills for youth growing up in economically disadvantaged situations. In January 2020, we are launching SNACC as a 6-month pilot program at P.S. 20, a Title I school on the Lower East Side. Our goal is to promote healthy social-emotional development for underserved youth while also addressing immediate needs related to food insecurity.
