Mission Statement

Cyber-Seniors' mission is to bridge the digital divide and connect generations through technology

Description

Cyber-Seniors' mission is to bridge the digital divide and connect generations through technology. Through the development and dissemination of resources Cyber-Seniors offers a sustainable and scalable program that achieves this mission while offering significant benefits to both youth and seniors. Youth are provided with lessons and learning activities, as well as practical volunteer work experience to train them to act as digital mentors for seniors. Through this experience they develop important tech skills as well as workforce readiness skills such as problem solving, organizational, leadership, communication and work ethic. Volunteer mentoring hours are automatically logged by the Cyber-Seniors web portal and digital badges and certificates that acknowledge their achievements and volunteer hours are awarded. Seniors benefit from the program by being able to access affordable, effective technology training. Eliminating the digital divide allows intergenerational relationships to thrive, addresses the growing problem of social isolation amongst the elderly, and provides both youth and seniors with valuable learning opportunities and skill development.
