Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
The mission of Catholic Charities' Services for the Elderly Program is to provide comprehensive services to those adults in need, especially the poor and oppressed. Staff and volunteers work together to promote and maintain maximum personal independence for the older adults it serves, to support them in living a life of their own choosing, and to enable all persons to function in the least restrictive, most normal and non-institutional environment suitable to their needs and/or handicapping condition, thereby maximizing their indepenence.
The Fix-It Program goal is to assist the homebound elderly resident of Ocean County to remain independent in their own home by performing minor home repairs which, if neglected, would adversely affect their health and/or safety. Services are provided by volunteer handypersons who perform household repairs and/or yard work at no cost to the elderly resident. However, the elderly resident is expected to pay for materials, if necessary. Fix-It Program volunteers will do minor plumbing, minor carpentry, minor electrical, install safety hand rails, install curtain and drapery hardware, change light bulbs, replace batteries in smoke detectors, rake leaves, change storm windows and doors.
