The mission of Catholic Charities Diocese of Trenton Ocean Community Services is to provide service to people in need, to advocate for justice in social structures, and to call the entire church and other people of good will to do the same.

Description

Catholic Charities of Ocean County NJ provides assistance and outreach to the most vulnerable in our county. Our programs include a Food/Housewares/Clothing Pantry in Lakewood NJ, Domestic Violence Services, Counseling, Housing assistance, Immigration Services, and a Minor Home Repair Service for Seniors and handicapped individuals.

I have been volunteering with this organization since June 2015. I am NOT a handyman, just "handy". Anyone with the will to assist seniors in their homes can do the repairs we perform. Many times we get requests to just change some light bulbs... You don't want 85 year old ladies climbing up a ladder!!! The reward for me is how thankful the clients are. Many of them are home bound and a visit from our volunteers is a highlight to their day. If you are a DOER and want to make an elderly person happy, this is the volunteer position for YOU!!!
