Mission Statement

Forty-one years ago, in a modest University of Oregon-area house-turned-office, Direction Service was founded with a desire and a dream: To provide a place where people with disabilities and special needs would be treated with respect, dignity, and compassionate care, regardless of situation. Today, Direction Service continues that legacy of service as a multi-program family support nonprofit located in Springfield, Oregon. Serving all of Lane County, we are now an independent, private, nonprofit organization funded through public and private donations, as well as local and federal support.

Description

Our Counseling Center provides the full range of mental health services to very young children, children and adolescents, families, and adults of all ages. The Youth & Family Services program works with families in Lane County who have children, youth, and young adults (birth-23) with disabilities or special needs. We support these families by offering advocacy in all service systems and also wraparound facilitation in partnership with Trillium Behavioral Health. Recently we began working with St. Vincent de Paul to offer wraparound facilitation to the young women in their youth house in South Eugene. CADRE is our national technical assistance center in partnership with the Department of Education. CADRE is the Center for Appropriate Dispute Resolution in Special Education offering resources and tools to help families, schools, and practitioners.
